All campers should arrive with sunblock already applied and wearing a swimsuit under their clothes. Remember: camp is fun and sometimes a bit messy. Please send your child to camp in old clothes. All campers will have a locker or cubby in which to store their belongings. Please send children in with the following:

• Lunch with a cold pack
• Change of clothes
• Second swimsuit
• Two towels
• Goggles
• Plastic bag for wet items
• Water shoes (optional)
• Sunblock
• Hat
• Sneakers – Note that sandals are not allowed at camp.

Please label everything clearly with your child’s name!

Preschool and Kindergarten campers should bring an extra set of clothes in a labeled shoe box to leave at camp for the weeks they will be here (just in case!).

A morning snack is provided, and complimentary pizza is available for all campers every Friday. Ice cream and Italian ice are sold every day during lunch for $2. In addition, each camper is given a freeze pop at the end of the day.

Campers may bring their own lunch (please include a cold pack), or participate in our optional lunch program through Sequa Deli. Lunch must be preselected and prepaid, and include a side of fruit and bottled water for $10.00 per lunch.

Water is always available throughout the campgrounds. Please provide a drink for your child on pizza Fridays. If your child would prefer to bring his/her lunch on Fridays, this is fine, too.

Camp Harbor takes pride in maintaining small group sizes. In fact, our groups are even smaller than what New York State requires. While group sizes may shift each week slightly, we always prioritize close supervision and personalized attention. Our staff-to-camper ratios are as follows:

Preschool: 1 staff person for every five campers
K-1st Grade: 1 staff person for every six campers
2nd-5th Grades: 1 staff person for every seven campers
6th-9th Grades: 1 staff person for every ten campers

Please note: If someone other than the child's parent or guardian will pick up the child at the end of the day, please update your Pick Up/Emergency information on your parent portal. This is under the student information window. Or, a signed note must be on file in the office. If the person picking up your child is unfamiliar to the group teacher, a description must accompany the signed note, and the person should be prepared to show identification. For your child's safety, please inform the group teachers and the office of any changes to the normal routine.

Never a problem. Just call the camp office, and we will inform your child. The aftercare program is available each day until 6 pm (except the very last day of camp!).

No problem! Please update your Pick Up/Emergency information on your parent portal. This is under the student info window. In addition, please email or call the front office and send in a note.

Please submit ‘No’ under your Pick Up/Emergency Info on your parent portal. Please keep the camp office informed of any special circumstances. Such information is kept strictly confidential.

Don't worry. Call the camp office to let us know or send in a note that day. Your child will be ready and waiting for you. We just ask that you sign him/her out.

Our doors open at 7:30 am each morning. You are welcome to drop off your child from 7:30 am on.

Unfortunately, we do not offer make-up days.

The Lead Teacher for each camp group is a certified teacher. The group counselors are enthusiastic high school and college students, many of whom are majoring in education. Special activities such as P.E, Arts, Music, Nature, and Swimming are taught by local professionals experienced in working with children.

All academic workshops are taught by certified teachers, some of whom are on the staff at Harbor Country Day School.

A registered nurse is on site at camp. Parents are asked to notify the nurse if their child has been exposed to any communicable disease within the two weeks prior to attending camp.

If you have any health-related questions or concerns, please contact the camp nurse or the camp office.

A registered nurse is on site at camp. If your child is required to take medication while at camp—whether daily or for an emergency—a Physician’s Order Form is required. This form can be found on our Forms tab or in your Parent Portal. All medication should be dropped off at the front office in a labeled ziplock bag. Please do not send medication in with your camper.

Please note that in order for the camp nurse to administer any medication (including over-the-counter medication), a written medical order from a doctor and written parental consent must be on file in the camp health office.

There are 20-25 campers in each group.

The pool is kept at 84 degrees.

The pool is 3 feet at the shallow end and 5 1/2 feet at the deep end.

Unfortunately not. This is a liability issue for us and we cannot allow visitors to participate in our summer programs. Thank you for your understanding.

Workshops are classes held before and after camp, from 8:00 am-9:00 am or 3:30 pm-4:30 pm. Weekly workshops are offered in academic and special interest areas. The workshop program is designed to be combined with the five-day camp program.

Yes! If you would like to send in enough birthday fare for the entire camp group or workshop group, great! Please just let the camp office know in advance so that we can be prepared and check the group for food allergies.

Please do not send your child to camp with any valuables, including jewelry, cell phones, iPads, cameras, video games, toys, and glass containers.
